Known as the poor man’s Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove offers great golf and stirring scenery. The sweeping views alone make this a course worth playing and help explain why Golf Magazine named it one of the country’s top 50 courses under $50. Green fees range from $20 to $45 in the winter months.

Poppy Hills Golf Course

Poppy Hills spent 19 years in the rotation of the famous AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Go online and add to this. If you have a Northern California Golf Association membership rounds cost $47 to $72, non-members $200.

Del Monte Golf Course
1300 Sylvan Road, Monterey

Del Monte opened in 1897 and is the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi River. The course features wide fairways lined with oak, pine, and cypress trees. It’s fairly flat and not especially long (6,357 total yards from the blue tees), so this is a good choice for players of all skill levels. Green fees are $110

Bayonet Golf Course

If you seek great views and a stout challenge, this is your place. Bayonet underwent an extensive, widely praised renovation recently and offers plenty of difficult golf holes. Rates range from $35 to $60 on weekday afternoons and $120 on weekends
